I love being reminded of the genesis of the United States. As the Founding Fathers were wrestling with generating an enduring constitution, James Madison said: We are in the wilderness without a single step to guide us.
What an extraordinary outcome they created! And it is up to each of us to keep this grand experiment alive. Listen to the farsighted words of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln:
The United States came into existence as a Nation, and if their Citizens should not be completely free and happy, the fault will be entirely their own.
